Mrs. Halvorson, kindergarten teacher at Mesquite Elementary School, uses her document camera (purchased with tax credit money) to improve student achievement. Tax credits enable our schools to do great things for kids. The money that is contributed allows local schools to build and nurture excellent programs including after-school clubs and activities, tutoring, athletics, performing arts, and more. Ocotillo Ridge Elementary School used its 2008 tax credit money to purchase instructional equipment for teachers including ceiling-mounted projectors and document cameras for each classroom (and a few shared starboards). Tax credits were also spent on other essential items for which funding is scarce including a sun shade over a large play structure, new band equipment, art equipment, tutoring resources, and gifted education resources. Mesquite Elementary School was able to use its tax credit money to purchase and install ceiling-mounted projectors and document cameras in every classroom. Several mimeos and two audio enhancement systems were also purchased. Teachers use these tools on a daily basis. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- To learn more about how you can contribute tax credits to improve educational opportunities for kids in the Vail School District, visit the VSD 2009 Tax Credit page on the district website.
