I received an e-mail yesterday from Bonnie Vining at the Vail School District telling me about the Vail Theater of the Arts at 10701 Mary Ann Cleveland Way. I haven't been to the facility yet, but I understand that it is a state of the art, 593 seat space that is used by the district for student productions and is also available for rent. Take a look at the website!
The great news is that there are three events coming up. The first performance is sponsored by the Vail Fellowship of Christian Students. It is a Christian/Secular concert featuring JJ Heller. The concert is April 9th and benefits the Christenson family who are experiencing some serious medical problems.
The next event is the Empire High School presentation of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella. This performance will be April 22 and 23rd. I really encourage families to attend these events. As a high school teacher I have been to a number of student productions and they are generally quite good. Your youthful performers are enthusiastic, dedicated and have lots of raw talent. This is a great way to expose your own children to the arts at a very reasonable price and you also support your local schools. They really need this support and the infusion of funds into their programs is a big help.
Finally for April the Vail Theater will have Grammy winner Carlos Nakai and Will Eaton performing The Wilde Boys. This is a truly marvelous opportunity to see an international caliber artist in a wonderfully intimate setting. If you haven't heard Nakai he is well worth your time.
Just a note to thank Ms. Vining for all the above info and we at Vailaz.com will make a point of keeping the community informed each month about upcoming performances. To get tickets for any of the above performances you can purchase these at www.vtota.org or you can contact the theater directly at 520-879-3925 for cash purchases or to speak to Ms. Vining about renting the theater.
Hope everybody goes and supports these super events! Let us know what you think!
